CSC 4700 AI Showcase
Published:
On May the 4th, 2026, the LSU CoE hosted our end-of-semester AI Showcase in Tiger Stadium. This course coincedes with the end of CSC 4700(G)/HNRS 3025 AI and LLM Development, which was originally envisioned by former LSU Provost Roy Haggerty and realized by my colleague and friend, Professor James M. Ghawaly Jr. This event brought together experts from business and government together in LSU’s Tiger Stadium on the cliffs of Death Valley to celebrate the achievements of our students and marvel at what they could do with AI, in terms of realizing real-world industry projects with business value, in just one semester.

Our industry sponsors for this semester were, in order of presentation, MMR Group, Baton Rouge Community College, Neighbors Federal Credit Union and Performance Contractors. You can find more details on my LinkedIn post here, where I name names.
I was originally tapped to teach this course (going from a 1-1 load to a 1-2 load) towards the end of 2025 and the experience can be described in two words: “Worth it.”
In every way, shape or form, this was an awesome experience for me, for the CoE, for the Division of Computer Science and Engineering, and most importantly, my students who thoroughly enjoyed the experience. While most are graduating, some are sticking around for another year at LSU, including an honors student who I’m honored (pardon the pun) to direct their capstone over. Stay tuned!
