2026 Longwell Teaching Award
Published:
I am extremely pleased to report that I have been selected to receive the LSU CoE Longwell Teaching Award for the 2025-2026 academic year:
“Early year courses play a critical role in undergraduate retention and set the tone for our students’ future success. This award gives us the opportunity to recognize the unique contribution of our faculty who participate in the early years of a student’s journey in the College. As such, Petroleum Engineering alumnus, Dr. Harry Longwell, established the Dean’s Fund for Instructor Excellence to enhance the quality of instruction in entry-level courses in Engineering, Computer Science and Construction Management disciplines.”
This award is not just my own doing! In order to even apply for it I needed several critical support letters. First, I am extremely grateful to the LSU CSE Division Chair, Ibrahim “Abe” Baggili, for writing a phenomonal recommendation letter on my behalf!
Second, the call for nominations asks for at least two ‘letters of support from current or former students who can directly attest to the nominee’s teaching skills’. I’d really like to issue a shoutout to the students (who will remain anonymous - but know who they are!) who wrote great support letters for my nomination!
